The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. [2 Chronicles 16.9a]

Here is a fact about God that is worth remembering. 

The nice thing is, the statement is generic in its object even though it was about King Asa specifically in context.

We can deduce that if we will fully commit our hearts to Yahweh, then He will strengthen our hearts (as a matter of priority).

Do we dare, however, also deduce that if we are not strengthened by God that we are not therefore fully committed to Him?

Logic would answer the question above in the affirmitive. But this is often when religion begins its twisted contortion of truth in order to protect the pride of man.

Instead of deducting the obvious conclusion that commitment to God is missing when strength from God is missing, religion begins to concoct complicated explanations that God cannot be confined to His own word and that man's commitment could not be the problem.

Father, help me to avoid foolish and proud denial of my own lack of commitment to You!
