Ancient Curse

Pour out your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you—on kingdoms that do not call upon your name. [Psalm 79.6]

I had a scary thought today as I read this verse in the Psalms. What if my nation, the United States of America, is included in this ancient curse?

I've always read this and thought of all the nations that are and have been enemies of God's people and Israel. But today it occurred to me that the USA has very steadily positioned itself more and more as an enemy of God more so than a friend of God (as a nation). And, even if the USA is not necessarily seen as an "enemy of God," it has still increasingly refused to acknowledge God!

Citizens of the USA have for years prided themselves in the blessings of this nation. Many still believe these blessings are the result of our nation's Godly heritage and establishment. However, the curse of Psalm 79.6 gives no free pass to any nation based on what it used to be.

Make no mistake about it, every blessing or curse in the Bible will be so! Like it or not, the Bible has accurately predicted the future and will continue to be proven right by events yet to occur.

I see a very urgent need for us to pray and call upon the name of the Lord (Yahweh)!

Father, help us, wherever we are, to pray for our nation. Help us to acknowledge You and call upon your name! Help us to avoid the ageless curse found in Psalm 79.6!
