You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress. [Psalm 59.9]
All of Psalm 59 is a song David wrote while Saul's soldiers were laying in wait for him outside his home (1 Samuel 19.11).
What is interesting about this Psalm? The fact that David wrote a song while he knew his life was on the line! Here's the picture: "Hey David, dad sent some soldiers to kill you - they're outside now." says Michal. "Oh, OK," says David, "I think I'll write a song..."
In the midst of that song, David penned the verse above.
What kind of resolve and faith did David have? The kind I want!
Father, thank You for the testimony of David's faith and trust in You found in 1 Samuel and the Psalms! Help me to learn from David and Your Word!
