Intercession

Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children. The Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins. [Genesis 25.21]

It would be easy to miss what happened here any other time, but not today! What we see here is Isaac interceding for Rebekah - he literally became an advocate for her before God. He acted as a priest before God on her behalf.

This is as clear a picture as it gets of 1) Jesus' work on our behalf and, 2) the work we are to be busy about today.

Father, I have come to know that intercession is Your will for my life and ministry. I know, if I know nothing else, that I am to pray for people you have placed in my life as well as those You have placed my life in. I want to be faithful in this most holy task!
