Kingdom-Mindedness

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. [Titus 2.11-13]

As I read this passage of scripture today, I saw Kingdom-mindedness promoted. Specifically in the words, "while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed."

Kingdom-mindedness is all about looking forward with hope. It is about looking past what is seen into the realm of the unseen. It is about taking seriously the work of Christ on our behalf and, regardless of circumstances, believing and acting upon the benefit and privilege we have in Him. It is about seeing heaven and bringing it to earth (Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven...). It is about realizing eternity and urging others to do the same.

If Kingdom-mindedness is not contagious, it is not Kingdom-mindedness. It might be religion or a hobby, but it is not what Jesus taught us to pray for and seek first.

Father, let Your glory be revealed - may Your Kingdom come!
