“Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! [Matthew 6.22-23]
Here's the deal - this passage of scripture is right in the middle of Jesus' teaching about money and possessions... why is that? What does the "light" provided by our eyes have to do with material things?
Obviously, our eyes do indeed have something to do with material things and money.
If God is "light," then is darkness "money"?
Father, I feel like there is so much more to be understood about these statements by Jesus. Help me to understand!
