Today's OYCB reading pretty much only covered some genealogical background up to the Babylonian captivity. Other than some names and family records, there really was nothing much to comment on otherwise.
However, the names struck an odd note in me today. I think I realized that each of these names represented a person (duh!). These were real people that were descendants of real people and they were Israelites.
The fact is, God cares about every single person. Even though most of the people listed in today's reading were largely participants in the turning away of Israel from God, they remained important enough to be recorded and remembered.
My 'take-away' from today's reading is that God knows and cares who I am. I know it's not really a profound thought, but it matters, doesn't it?
Father, thank You for being aware of and caring for me personally!
