Fulfillment Proves the Prediction - Time and History Tell All

Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah. “If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people. Why do you insist on dying—you and your people? Why should you choose war, famine, and disease, which the Lord will bring against every nation that refuses to submit to Babylon’s king? Do not listen to the false prophets who keep telling you, ‘The king of Babylon will not conquer you.’ They are liars. This is what the Lord says: ‘I have not sent these prophets! They are telling you lies in my name, so I will drive you from this land. You will all die—you and all these prophets, too.’” [Jeremiah 27.12-15]

There was an ongoing problem of disagreement among the prophets of the day. Jeremiah experienced this problem a lot. It seems he had as much or more trouble from the other prophets about his prophecies than the other people!

As it turned out however, Jeremiah was proven right by the fulfillment of his predictions.

There are many today who refute what the Bible says. There are those who say God did not create the earth. There are those who say God does not interact with mankind. There are those who say God is not even real.

It is truly amazing however that those who refute the Bible completely ignore the facts of fulfillment found throughout the pages of the Bible. They seem to satisfy themselves that the Bible was just lucky (I suppose) in predicting so many different events that have come to pass. They are content to ignore the numerous predictions by Bible prophets (on behalf of the LORD) that were later fulfilled. Instead, they feel intelligent and therefore justified in disputing the Bible in general.

Well,...

I suppose Bible-believing Christians could get all upset about it. However, there really is nothing to get upset about as it is God's Name 'on the line' and it will be God Who ultimately defends His own Name and Honor! I believe true believers are duty-bound to state the facts as the Bible presents them - beyond that, we have no abilities to make anyone believe anything! Fulfillment proves the prediction! Likewise, we may have 'a word from God' but, that too, will either be right or wrong based on its fulfillment - it is completely out of our hands and instead, up to God.

When all is said and done, there will be 'sayers' and naysayers. Time and history will tell all.

Father, I am content with the Bible. I am content with Your Holy Spirit. I am certain You exist because there have simply been too many proofs revealed by history to ignore! I am also certain You exist because I have a relationship with You that can only be explained by the reality of its existence!
