This message was given to Amos, a shepherd from the town of Tekoa in Judah. He received this message in visions two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, was king of Israel. [Amos 1.1]
It seems Amos had a message for everyone. At this time in history, Neither Israel nor surrounding nations had any real favor with God.
Sometimes I wonder if this is how it is with the world and the church today.
It is easy to sit in church and blame the world for being so worldly when all the while the church is faithless and powerless.
Father, we need revival in the church and salvation in the world. Let both justice and mercy take their places!
