Sing And Make Music

Sing praises to God, our strength. Sing to the God of Jacob. Sing! Beat the tambourine. Play the sweet lyre and the harp. Blow the ram’s horn at new moon, and again at full moon to call a festival! For this is required by the decrees of Israel; it is a regulation of the God of Jacob. He made it a law for Israel when he attacked Egypt to set us free. [Psalm 81.1-5]

Throughout the Bible I have recognized a lot of instruction that worshiping God was good and necessary. However, today, I see it clearly stated that singing and making music as part of prescribed festivals was decreed as law by God!

I wonder what this means in the modern church?

Perhaps it is worth considering that we too are responsible to sing and worship God with music today. Singing and music is not a convenience, but a mandate - a directive - something we should make every effort to include in our search for and devotion to God. We must sing and make music!

Father, I want to have right devotion to You. I want my pursuit of You to please You in every way. I don't want to leave anything out in my worship of You.
