Then Elimelech died, and Naomi was left with her two sons. The two sons married Moabite women. One married a woman named Orpah, and the other a woman named Ruth. But about ten years later, both Mahlon and Kilion died. This left Naomi alone, without her two sons or her husband. [Ruth 1.3-5]
Life can be hard. Naomi was well aware of this fact. And, even though Naomi was very vocal to the fact that the LORD had made her life difficult, she remained faithful to Him and appears to have been hopeful that His hand would still care for her. This is clearly seen in the instructions and advice she gave to Ruth.
So, no matter how difficult life had become, Naomi gives us a good example of remaining faithful and even hopeful.
Father, in my current difficulties, help me to remain faithful and hopeful!
