Talking About What I Know Nothing About

Then Job replied to the Lord: “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.  You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’  It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.  You said, ‘Listen and I will speak!  I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’  I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.  I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.” [Job 42.1-6]

"I was talking about things I knew nothing about..." is what I am sure I will answer to the LORD when called to account about much of this my blog.  I have said a LOT here and I think I have said much of it in nothing but pure arrogance and pride as if God owes me some answers.

The fact is, God owes me nothing.  I, on the other hand, owe God everything.  It is pure privilege that I am allowed to simply live and breathe!  It is not I who keeps my heart beating and my body functioning - it is the LORD!

Father, like Job, I must confess my arrogance and pride.  I have a tendency to become puffed up as I think I understand myself, the Bible, and the world around me.  I tend to think I can discredit men of the Bible far greater than myself just because of events recorded about them in the Bible.  This error is found in my attitude toward contemporary mankind as well.  Worse still, I have questioned You as if I deserve explanations for things that I fail to comprehend.  Please, LORD, forgive me of this arrogance and pride.  Help me to remain mindful of Job in my daily life!
