Fighting With God and Man

“Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him.  “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.” [Genesis 32.28]

How many have wrestled with both God and man and won?  Talk about 'running against the wind' or 'fighting against the odds'!

What Jacob accomplished in wrestling with the angel of God should encourage all who read the story to be engaging in their pursuits!  Likewise, what Jacob accomplished in working for Laban and then going to face Esau was monumental!  We should not be afraid to engage God or man!

Once again today, I find myself and my situation "addressed" by the Bible!  This addressing of myself is God's WORD.  God's WORD to me today is to continue to believe that I should pray to God and I should engage mankind in effort to accomplish whatever tasks lie before me.

Father, thank You for speaking to me and my condition once again today!  You are faithful and You are good!
