Virtual Victory That Is Real

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [Ephesians 6.11-12]

In light of yesterday's post, the statements above now make more sense!

God has every intention that His church, not seeing, but still believing, battles the forces that oppose God.  We, the church, are engaged in warfare in a realm of which we are not yet fully (and literally) suited for.  We live in physical flesh and blood that serves to handicap us in the spiritual realm.  And yet... God has commissioned us to do warfare in that very realm bringing further glory to Himself Whom we, by faith and ill-prepared for as we are, fight for anyway!

God receives His glory not in our failures due to our foreigner status in the realm of the Spirit, but in our victories because we ignore and overcome the realm of the physical by faith so that we might likewise do battle and overcome in the realm of the Spirit!

Because of faith, we don't need to actually see and live in the realm of the Spirit!  We can fully engage our enemy - God's enemy - in total blind faith and have every assurance that the victory is ours because the victory is God's!

Young David demonstrated that when fighting (and handily overcoming) Goliath!  But we have more contemporary terminology describing this victory too - we have "virtual victory"!  It's like a video game where, even though we may suffer a loss, God resets the game and we are free to fight on!  The enemy CANNOT WIN against those odds!  We CANNOT LOSE with that favor!  God's love is the electricity that gives the game power and faith is the on-switch.

Father, I know I say some pretty uneducated things at times here in this blog.  But today, I know what has been said here is right.  I know that I am enlisted in Your Army - the church - and that there is indeed a war going on and battles are raging.  Give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand beyond the physical so that I might please You by overcoming in the Spirit!
