The Law - Ended

For Christ himself has brought peace to us.  He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.  He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations.  He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. [Ephesians 2.14-15]

Jesus ENDED the system of law with its commandments.

This really throws a kink in much of our religious system today.  How many of us really read the Old Testament for the purpose to seeing and equipping ourselves to reveal Jesus?  Instead, I am afraid we read the Old Testament in search of how to live!  The problem is, the Old Testament is an outdated system!  Yes, I said it, outdated!  Jesus brought in an entirely new era!  And, as followers of Jesus, we are indeed to search how to live - but to do so through Christ!

Father, help me to see Jesus in the Old Testament and the Law.  I would ask that You give me eyes to see and a heart to understand how everything about the Old Testament and the Law points to Jesus!
