Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. [2 Corinthians 13.5]
I haven't posted in a few days, but I have been reading the daily readings. One thing that stands out to me in the last few days of reading, mostly Paul's letters, is that there is a lot that Paul's letters do not tell us about what is going on. It is like reading someone's letter about a topic or event we know nothing about. Much of what we read requires that we deduce as best we can what the situation is and is about.
One thing however that does stand out in Paul's letter here today to the folks in Corinth, is that the need existed to do a spiritual check-up Paul challenged the Corinthians to "test yourselves.".
So, how does a believer 'test himself'?
It would seem Paul is indicating with the rest of the verse above that we need to see and understand clearly that Christ is among us - that is the test of genuine faith.
How do we know Christ is among us?
If we need to ask, then I am afraid that is our answer!
Father, I want Christ to be evident in my life!!!
