Danger Zone

For Jerusalem will stumble, and Judah will fall, because they speak out against the Lord and refuse to obey him.  They provoke him to his face.  The very look on their faces gives them away.  They display their sin like the people of Sodom and don’t even try to hide it.  They are doomed!  They have brought destruction upon themselves. [Isaiah 3.8-9]

In consideration of the content of my post yesterday about history repeating itself and mankind's undeniable moral degradation, I would today like to point out a particular 'indicator' in this cycle that signals God's soon intervention.  It is homosexuality, the analogous flagship of degradation for which Sodom is known.

Once homosexuality enters the "don't even try to hide it" stage, destruction is near - very near.

I am neither making predictions here nor claiming to be a prophet, but what I am doing is looking at historical fact as is relates to the cycles of human moral conduct.  I encourage any reader of this post to verify what I am suggesting here for himself.

Not far past the referenced scripture above, there is another indicator in my opinion that supports the 'judgment is near' idea and goes hand-in-hand with the discussion above:

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. [Isaiah 5.20]

When whole societies, as opposed to just individuals, not only accept, but actually embrace evil as good (and good as evil), again, judgment is near.  I see this happening all too often now when criminals are said to have "rights."

But where does it all start?  Are there any indicators that could have been watched for as a benchmark to signal when moral corrections could be in order?  Back up to Isaiah 1.23:

Your leaders are rebels, the companions of thieves.  All of them love bribes and demand payoffs, but they refuse to defend the cause of orphans or fight for the rights of widows.

Orphans and widows could just be where we should look to find the early warning signs of degradation.  Are they being taken care of?  Likewise are leaders actually leading or just fleecing the sheep with widows and orphans being the first to suffer from the leaders' selfish ambition?

From all I can see and assess, we are right smack-dab in the middle of the 'danger zone' for devastation resultant to our moral condition.

Father, I think You have clearly given us every tool imaginable to assess our own current situation and conclude that clearly we are in the 'danger zone' as far as judgment is concerned.
