Love-Less People Exist

Then the woman who was the real mother of the living child, and who loved him very much, cried out, “Oh no, my lord! Give her the child—please do not kill him!” [1 Kings 3.26a]

It truly is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.  At least, this is the discernible willing attitude of true "mother's" love.  If, for the life of the child she would have to give him up, the real mother would indeed do so with unquestionable resolve.

Love does not always get its way, but sometimes gives way.

I realize the story of these two women is about Solomon's wisdom - and there is no question about that - but there is also so much to learn about humanity and love from this brief little story.

While the true mother's story is heartwarming, the other mother's willingness to allow another child to die (even if not her own) is bone chilling.  And yet, her cold-hearted sickness remains today.  There seems to be no end to mean love-less people's existence on earth.

Father, please give us discernment to deal with love-less people today!
