Just as was evident yesterday, so again today, when a decision was made to follow God (contrary to established rule) persecution was elevated. Moses' obedience to God in demanding to Pharoah to let the Israelites go resulted in Pharoah concluding that the Israelites were not busy enough and needed to work harder.
The result of Pharoah's increased workload was that the very people Moses was trying to serve turned against him. I bet he wasn't ready for that!
There is a hard lesson here for anyone wishing to follow God.
Father, I think most of us have a Hollywood idea that if we follow You, there will be victorious background music with people rallying around us to advance to an overwhelmingly successful feat. I am guessing however, that all Moses got was a dead silent and lonely realization that his calling would not be easy.
