Before the priest goes in to inspect the house, he must have the house emptied so nothing inside will be pronounced ceremonially unclean. [Leviticus 14.36]
I find this statement odd. The whole idea of ceremonial uncleanness has to do with proximity and association. I just don't get it that everything in the house should be brought out before the priest goes in to determine whether or not a mildew is present. If it were a mildew, then, by all other ceremonial standards, would not the contents of the house also be contaminated?
Father, I'll have to think on this issue. I certainly don't get it.
