Matthew 5.27-48 (today's NT reading in the OYB) pretty much excludes anyone I know from entering heaven.
However! As much as 27-48 really seems to make it difficult, it must NEVER be separated from the preceding dialog (by Jesus) of which it is part (1-26)! Jesus stated in yesterday's NT reading that He is the fulfillment of "The Law" and that until heaven and earth disappear (which apparently they will), the Law will not disappear until its purpose is achieved. So, what Jesus is clearly teaching (in today's reading) is that the standard we are judged by is absolute perfection (of which we are incapable) and Jesus alone fulfills that perfection.
