Strange Thoughts

In November of the second year of King Darius’s reign, the Lord gave this message to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah and grandson of Iddo: [Zechariah 1.1]

Then I witnessed in heaven an event of great significance. [Revelation 12.1a]

I had some strange thoughts today.  If God is indeed the Alpha and Omega - Beginning and End - then perhaps we should approach prophetic writings with that in mind at all times.  Considering that time is nothing to God, it would be safe to conclude that the things God tells prophets to write have (from God's perspective) already occurred.

In most of the OT prophetic writings (including today's Zechariah reading) the events are forward-looking.  However, in Revelation there seems to be events of our past, present, and as well the future.  As I read this today, I realized the difficulty that we face in determining what has already occurred, what is occurring right now, and what is yet to come.

Hmmm.

Father, I would like to grasp more understanding of all things prophetic.  I would like to comprehend more of where we are in this time-limited life we live as it relates to the continuum of eternity.  Please help my understanding!
