It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. [Galatians 6.15]
Here's the deal: We do a LOT of things as Christians and call it important. But according to Paul's words here today, the thing that really matters is being transformed into a new creation. And, it seems to me this is good advice.
The fact is, if we are genuinely transformed into a new creation, all else WILL be taken care of. "New creation" is the key phrase! The old is gone, the new has begun. A "new creation" will not be the same as the old. All will be different. All will be changed. All will be better.
The sad truth is however, that we are hesitant to make, and certainly to believe, this statement. We generally feel compelled to hold on to the control necessary for the "old" (the law) because we cannot be a party to, or accept responsibility for, the "new." It is simply too risky to leave it up to God's Spirit! Rather than patiently seeing Christ take control of a new convert's life, it is much easier to slap the law back on them and go our own way...
Father, help me to focus on the "new creation" in my life and in the lives of those with whom I relate Your Word. I pray that You find faith in me - faith that really believes I have been changed and that really believes others have been changed as well.
