I am not sure today whether God is blessing or cursing Jerusalem in the words of Isaiah. At first, it seemed He was giving a perpetual blessing that could not be reversed (I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you [Isaiah 54.9b]). Then, as it goes further (Isaiah 56.9), it seems more destruction is in order...
Of note in today's NT reading is:
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [Ephesians 6.12]
In light of a previous observation that perhaps we should consider God's dealings direct with Satan (ref. Job), could Paul be confirming here that indeed the real battle is beyond our human perception in another realm? Unlike Job, however, we have been made aware of this other-realm activity and have even been given commission to participate in it (fight against the dark powers and evil spirits).
Hmmm...
Father, Your Word continues to amaze me. I am trusting You that Your Word in my life will not return to You (through my response empowered by it) without having made a difference.
