A Lot Of Talk

Be careful to provide whatever the God of heaven demands for his Temple, for why should we risk bringing God’s anger against the realm of the king and his sons? [Ezra 7.23]

Yesterday we read about Darius wanting God's blessing and today it is Ataxerxes. Another bright idea.

Now, an interesting find in the NT:

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. [I Corinthians 4.20]

Imagine that! Hello! Here we are!

Should we not be sick of ourselves? I mean, really, who are we kidding? All our talk, our endless libraries of Christian books, Christian television broadcasts, Christian radio broadcasts, and on and on and on...

Where is the power?

I dare someone to rebuke me... go ahead, "talk" me down! Better yet, why not make a rain cloud stand still over my head?

I will shut up now - I have some power to pray about...

Father, I am ashamed of the wimpy religion I have promoted by mouth. The world sees no more power in my life than the next guy. I fear that as Christians, we have promoted powerlessness ("Well, let God's will be done...") over power. We have literally glorified the fact that junk happens more than miracles. Father, I confess that I have been a lot of talk - and nothing more...
