I am a bit confused today... Elihu verbally pounds Job for what appears to be great folly and sin in Job's life. But God originally told satan that Job was righteous and pure. Now, again, having read this before and even having looked forward again this morning, God rebukes Job's three friends AND Job for sin - but not Elihu.
Was Job's sin not until AFTER satan unleashed financial and physical ruin on Job? I am sure it would be inappropriate to say God lied to satan. Perhaps God knew Job was righteous but also knew Job's righteousness had a lot to do with his well-being? Could it be that God knew there was hidden sin waiting to be revealed in Job? Could it be that that sin would only be activated if Job experienced difficulty? The problem with this would be that the sin would be in Job albeit dormant. How could God attribute righteousness to Job if He (God - and even though only God) knew about it?
Perhaps it would be easier to leave these questions un-asked.
Father, I am looking for You to reveal Truth to my heart regarding the story of Job. Please open my understanding.
