Whom Shall We Believe?

And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. [Romans 8.23]

I want to back up to John chapter 11:

Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.” “Yes,” Martha said, “he will rise when everyone else rises, at the last day.” Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?” [John 11.23-26]

Even though this event occurred long before Paul wrote his letter to the Romans, it appears Martha already believed what Paul had not yet written.

Martha was not thinking wrong (as Jesus confirmed), but neither was she thinking complete (as Jesus also confirmed and demonstrated by raising Lazarus from the dead).

Whom shall we believe then?

Father, thank You for ...Jesus. In every time and every situation, let my life and actions line up with Jesus. When I have questions - when I have doubts, let it be that Jesus Christ is my primary and final source - my Alpha and Omega!
