Save The USA

Just looking at the OT reading today makes me wonder...

Today's OT reading details a lot of grief for Judah. The reason for all this grief was sin - they had turned their backs on God - they had worshipped idols.

Analogy? On this Independence Day Holiday in the USA it seems ironic to me that the OT clearly defines that sin results in punishment. How does this apply to the USA?

Regardless of what naysayers and history twisters may say, the United States of America was founded by normal men and women (yes, with problems of their own) who turned to God. They turned to God so much that they prayed and established what was to become perhaps the greatest nation ever to exist. So powerful was their devotion to God that references to Him and prayer and His Word are laced generously throughout the founding documentation, letters, and laws of the new nation.

My pondering about grace and mercy lead me to wonder if the USA is subject to discipline as was Israel and Judah in OT times. If so, this nation is in serious trouble.

And what about the "leaders" in the USA? The OT leaders' family lines were destroyed. Is there an analogy for our elected representatives today (there is a distinct role difference between these elected representatives and the monarchy leaders of the OT)? Or is this severe punishment reserved for the people of the USA who elected these representatives?

And then, what about Jesus? If indeed Jesus suffered and bled and died for the sin of the world, how does the USA factor in?

The fact is, Jesus' work on behalf of mankind is released by faith. The founding fathers of the USA possessed and clearly demonstrated that faith. The result was the establishment of a great nation.

Today, however, the very icon of the USA, the President, says the USA is no longer a Christian nation. I will say here and now, the incumbent elected USA President does not represent me in this sentiment. And, I am clearly not alone in this regard.

So where does that leave me and the USA?

Let me be on record here and now that I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe God will deliver those who truly call on Him. I believe that life does not go well for those who turn their back on Him and that they will be turned over to the natural destruction resultant to, and reserved for, evil (in principle and in deed).

My prayer is this:

Father, please save the USA. Let my life be aligned with Your will for the USA...
