The contrasts of OT & NT are quite evident in Luke's record of Jesus' teaching today. For whatever reason, I had never really grasped the meaning of the new cloth and old garment parable. Today, for whatever reason, it seems to make more sense - one would not tear a piece of cloth from a new garment to make a repair on an old garment. Why would anyone destroy the new garment? The point is, no one would!
And yet, the church at large today is still taking new revelation from God and trying to patch up old methods with it. Why???
Father, help us to enjoy the "new garments" You give us. Help us to lose sentiment for old methods and embrace what You are doing TODAY wholeheartedly!
