Same Faith?

Jesus' power was limited to the faith of the people.

And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. [Mark 6.5]

Seriously, shouldn't we think about this? I mean, is it not the same faith today as was then that pleases God? Didn't the writer of Hebrews declare that without faith it is impossible to please God? Isn't it true that Jesus is on record as being most amazed about issues regarding faith (either the presence or absence of it) more so than any other issue?

I think theologians need to be very careful about declaring this kind of faith as "passed away." I fear our theology is much too often developed on "what is" rather than "what should be." Have we "theologized" faith out of our religion? Has pride motivated us to adapt our theology regarding faith to accommodate our lack thereof? God help us.

Another thought... what kind of dance did Herodias perform that so moved Herod to offer half his kingdom to her?

Father help us in our faith to truly please You.
