Hear My Prayer

No doubt, one thing we may learn from the prophets is that God has little tolerance for rebellion. Although it may be learned over and again that God is patient and long suffering, it is also evident that God looks at the "attitude" of sinfulness to see if there is a heart truly longing for Him.

Paul's letter to the people of Colosse starts off today. Once again, I see Christian maturity demonstrating itself increasingly in Paul. His thankfulness, love, and prayers for the family of God are all obvious in this first chapter of Colossians. Three times in chapter 1 alone Paul directly refers to his prayer for these people. We would do equally well to pray likewise for the Christian people in our own lives.

Something that stood out in the Psalms today (76.10): "Human defiance only enhances Your [God's] glory, for You use it as a weapon." That is one to think about. The footnote says the meaning of the original language in this verse is uncertain, but is it not quite clear all through history? Can this not be seen in Pharoah? Can it not be seen in rulers and kings all through Israel's account of existence?

Thank You Father for the Christian people in my life. Thank You for those I have been able to encourage in reading Your word and praying to You. Thank You for those reading these very words today. Thank You for their evident faith in You! Thank You for their ever-increasing love for all Your people which comes from the hope they have found in You. Give them complete knowledge of Your will. Give them spiritual wisdom and understanding so their lives will produce every kind of good fruit. Strengthen them with Your glorious power so they will have all the patience and endurance they need. Fill them with Your joy. Hear my prayer for them today. AMEN.
