Paul seems to have to defend his position a lot. Particularly in the times of the early church, there must have been so much going on and so many different opinions and doctrines developing - that sounds like today!
I like verse 12 of chapter 11 of 2 Corinthians: "But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours." You know, it makes sense, that if we continue doing the right thing - loving God, loving man - our work will reveal itself. Those whose motives are awry will NOT continue loving God and loving man regardless of what they said. The key is continuance. It may also be called faithfulness, perseverance, tenacity, etc...
There is simply no substitute for faithfulness - no substitute for being steady and committed. The world WILL see. But only if we live it out before them.
God help me to live it out today and every day for as long as I shall remain on this earth!
