Number One Priority

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. [Acts 20.24]

It would seem, at this point in Paul's life, that he had come into full submission to "taking up his cross and following Jesus." This subject has come up repeatedly in my articles over the past year... Hmm.

The value Paul attached to spreading the Good News revealed that it had, by this time, become priority number one in his life. In fact, nothing else mattered. Nothing whatsoever.

We must remain mindful that the work assigned to Paul by the Lord Jesus - the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God is the same work assigned to each of us. Have we given it the same priority Paul did? Does spreading the Gospel constitute the full meaning of our lives rendering it completely useless unless we fulfil that one mission?

As I consider my own life and the message it conveys to all who witness it, I must ask myself, "Have I allowed the Good News to be my number one priority?"

Father, may my life mean nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. So be it.
