Chew On This

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. He will delight in obeying the LORD. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay. He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment. [Isaiah 11.1-5]

Wow! What a powerful presentation of Jesus!

Wow, what a powerful presentation of the Church!

What? Yep, Jesus said this:

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [John 14.12]

And, Jesus also said this:

Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” [John 20.21-23]

For ages, the Church has choked on these words and, for that reason, has all but ignored them entirely. For this reason, the Church today is very much the powerless shell the apostle Paul instructed Timothy to avoid:

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! [2 Timothy 3.1-5]

Call it what we may, the Church needs help! The Church needs to return to its Head and Purpose on earth! The Church needs quit 'reasoning' what the Bible means and instead simply do what is necessary to 'be Jesus' in the earth today AS IT SAYS!

Father help Your people, the Body of Jesus Christ to see and DO what Your Word says. Help us to see that Jesus is our model and example in everything!
