And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. [Philemon 6]
Faith leads to generosity. Period.
Oh God...
Faith leads to generosity.
It might be said the generosity is a true indicator of faith.
However, faith is directly related to understanding and experiencing all the good things we have in Christ.
So, knowing Christ is the only real way to have faith, and this is no surprise because:
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. [Romans 10.17]
Neither is it a surprise then that pleasing God is possible any other way than through faith:
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. [Hebrews 11.6]
And this would further explain why Jesus said:
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. [John 14.6]
We need Jesus!
Father, help us to see how desperately we need Jesus and help us to "read the signs" of generosity or the lack thereof.
