Do The Work

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. [2 Peter 3.9]

So, when is Jesus coming back?

The interesting thing about this question is that is reveals something about the 'asker.'

While Jesus' followers are indeed to be watching for His return, there is something we must be cautious about doing, or, not doing, I should say. We should never lose touch with our command to go and make disciples. Why? Because, according to Peter here, God's will is that everyone come to repentance. God wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth (1 Timothy 2.3-4).

It is far better for us to be found doing His work than waiting for His return. Actually, according to the Bible, it would seem that "doing the work" is, in fact, waiting for His return.

Do the work.

Father in heaven, I want to be found doing the work of ministry You have called each and every one of us to be doing - spreading the Good News that there is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.
