4th Commandment

“Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the LORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. [Exodus 20.8-11]

Nine out of ten ain't bad, right? Ha.

Of all the Ten Commandments, it seems the 4th is given the least consideration today.

I understand that in Christ, believers have entered into God's Sabbath Rest. Or ...do I?

But then, that brings up another very important point. If, in Christ I have entered into God's Sabbath Rest, do I live every day as one who is resting in Christ?

The Ten Commandments are timeless. So, the 4th Commandment is just as meaningful as it was when the stone was still warm from God etching the Ten Commandments into it.

Father, help me to think seriously about the 4th Commandment EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.
