Prayer and Apocalypse

The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. [1 Peter 4.7]

With the end of the world soon to arrive, when the fate of those cursed by God becomes reality and those chosen by Him enjoy their promised fellowship and proximity with Him, there is something important that the Chosen are called to do - PRAY.

Before thinking "duh..." consider this: Revelation 5.8 indicates that the prayers of God's people play an important role in all things apocalyptic! The gold bowls and incense mentioned in revelation 5.8 are not just a one time mention. They show up at other times in the unfolding of Revelation and in powerful ways.

In the opening passage above, Peter acknowledges that prayer is an important part of the end of the world. We too should acknowledge the importance of prayer in end times and get to praying!

But, it is not just 'prayer' that is important, but that earnest and disciplined prayer be offered. The difference is sacrifice.

Father, I can see that earnest and disciplined prayer requires sacrifice. I can see that this kind of prayer is important in regard to the end of the world as we know it. I can see, form the book of Revelation, that the prayers of Your people are significant factors in the apocalyptic events to come .
