Praise and Prayer

I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. [Psalm 63.4]

If anything brought God's grace upon David's life, this must have been it.

In today's OYCB reading, there is much to be considered. Many folks had said many things. Some was good, some was bad.

David's enemy, his own son, had rebelled and was killed in battle and David mourned for him. David's commander, Joab, rebuked him for his actions and advised that if he did not change his tune, he would be deserted by all his warriors.

Shimei changed his tune and, instead of cursing David and throwing rocks, helped him and apologized.

It turns out that Ziba had lied about Mephibosheth...

I can imagine David looked over his situation and realized what a mess his lust and murder had unleashed upon his life.

And yet, David went down in history as a man after God's own heart.

If, in fact, David continued to praise God and lift his hands in prayer, then I am concluding that played a major role in David's fame.

Father, I want to be known as a one who praises You and lifts my hands in prayer...
