Leviticus 7-8
As I read today's OYCB reading, it occurred to me that I need to be looking for Christ. Yes, even in the details presented here in today's reading, I need to see Jesus.
I think these portions of Leviticus and elsewhere that are so difficult to grasp with their details for offering sacrifices are the best places to look the hardest for Jesus.
I am inclined to just 'read over' these details absorbing nothing as if there is no meaning for their presence in the Bible. But I know that is entirely wrong. I know, from Jesus' own words that everything contained in the Bible points to and reveals Him - the Messiah:
You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! [John 5.39]
So, understanding the details in any other context than seeing Jesus in them is outside of God'd plan.
Father, I struggle to see Jesus in some of the details and rituals defined in Leviticus and elsewhere. Please give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand...
