Why Are We Powerless?

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.[1 Corinthians 4.20]

Amen.

I believe the present day church needs to rethink what it is - or is not.

I hear a lot of talk about the power of God but, unfortunately, don't see it demonstrated  like it was  by Jesus and the early church.

How can we bo okay with that?

What's worse is that some Christian groups have twisted the scriptures enough to where they reason that powerlessness is okay. They have justified their miracle-less existence by making miracles out to be intangible - exactly like Mary and Martha reasoned when Jesus said Lazarus would live again!

The problem with this way of thinking is that it is not Kingdom thinking! The Kingdom is for now - why elses would Jesus teach us to pray for the Kingdom to come and God's will to be done ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN?

But a great problem surfaces when we reason this way. We are faced with the question, "Why are we powerless?"

"Why" indeed.

Father, help us to honestly ask oursleves the question, "Why are we powerless?" Help us be ready for Your answer.
