Who's Your Father?

Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth! This is what the LORD says: “The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me. Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master’s care—but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.” [Isaiah 1.2-3]

Oh wow. Do we really know and recognize God as our Father? Is He the One Who's voice we hearken to? Is He the One we run to for safety? Is He the One we look to for our food and sustenance? Is He the One we turn to when we are sick and in pain? Is He the One we rely on when we need knowledge to make plans and decisions? Is He the One we depend on to secure our nation - our homes?

I was thinking yesterday about all the descriptions we have of God in the Bible. He is specifically called "Healer", "Provider", "God", "Almighty", and the list goes on and on.

So, why do we not run to Him when we lack health, provision, direction, strength, etc.?

We should be challenged to consider what or who we turn to when faced with obstacles. Do we turn to Him?

You know, oxen and donkeys aren't known for their brilliance. And yet, they know their owners - their masters.

Father, help us to recognize You as our everything.
