Don't Copy The World!

Do not worship the Lord your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods. [Deuteronomy 12.4]

I have had an increasingly strong distaste (at least that is what I thought it was) lately for the way many in the modern church have conducted their worship of God.

When observing people at a gathering involving music and singing, it is no strange event to see them standing on their feet in a darkened room accented with alternating colored lights with hands in the air waving with the music.  In many cases people are overcome to the point of tears.  At any given point in the music, there can be heartfelt shouts, cheers, and overwhelming applause.

Now, here is my question: Is the event described above a Christian worship service or a secular concert?

Father, help us to worship You the way that pleases You - certainly, the world may copy us, but help us not to copy the world!
