This procedure will determine whether a person or object is ceremonially clean or unclean. [Leviticus 14.57a]
Admittedly, I tried unsuccessfully to see how the descriptions of the ceremonial cleansing mentioned in today's OYCB reading pointed to Jesus. I read and re-read the passages over and again. There were some interesting thoughts that came to mind, but no real concrete and direct indicators of Christ, as it appeared to me at first.
Then I read the scripture referenced above again.
While I am certain that every detail of the prescribed ceremony has meaning - and will all be revealed in good time (spoken in both hope and faith) - in my understanding, it becomes quite sufficient just to understand the basic difference between being clean or unclean. In this arguably oversimplified understanding, I do in fact, find myself directed to Jesus!
Father, I am grateful once again today that I have found myself directed to Jesus by the Old Testament. Help me to utilize whatever tools may be at my disposal in my quest to understand the Bible, but please, help me to avoid becoming arrogant in whatever knowledge You allow me to acquire. Furthermore, help me to place a premium on neither knowledge nor ignorance but rather on Christ and Him crucified and resurrected!
