"I Am The Most Humble Man!"

I wear burlap to show my grief.  My pride lies in the dust.  My eyes are red with weeping; dark shadows circle my eyes.  Yet I have done no wrong, and my prayer is pure. [Job 16.15-17]

Really??

I find it amusing that Job would make the statement above.  Ridiculous is more accurate.  He says his pride is in the dust and then still maintains that he has done no wrong and that his prayer is pure!

Would not true humility in Job at least have left room for the possibility that he had sinned?

It is like Job is saying. "I am the most humble man!"

Father, as I read this story once again, I am finding myself confused and confounded (once again) by the bantering back and forth by Job and his 'friends'.  Job and his friends all sound like schoolchildren arguing  (as if intelligently) over matters of which they have no knowledge whatsoever!
