Three Times A Day

But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. [Daniel 6.10]

How often do we admire the story and faith of Daniel in the lion's den?  How often do we purpose in our own hearts and encourage others to strive for this kind of faith?

How often do we actually pray?

Daniel's usual custom of prayer seems to entail more than just thanking God before a meal or telling God "good morning," or "good night."  This custom of prayer appears to be more dedicated - more focused - than that.

It has been quite the journey for me to become habitual on my own early morning quiet time with God in His Word and prayer.  Along this journey I have become increasingly dissatisfied with my faith.  Could it be that I have yet to commit to the level of devotion (like Daniel's three-prayer-a-day habit) that actually demonstrates a tangible, fruitful faith?

Father, I know I tend to become proud in my devotion to You when, in reality, it is miniscule.  Help me to digest what I am seeing today in Your Word and implement changes that move me close to the kind of faith that pleases You most!
