When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability. [Proverbs 28.2]
In keeping with my understanding about the United States Constitution that the American voter is actually the ultimate leader in this nation, the selection from Proverbs today hits squarely upon not only the problem, but the solution for the USA.
The problem is moral rot that results in instability.
The solution is a return by the leaders (the American voters) to wisdom and knowledge.
Too long, people in the USA have blamed elected public servants for the increasing problems in this country! The fact is, the elected personnel in the US Government merely reflect those who elected them. Like it or not, they also reflect those who failed to vote against them. What's more, they reflect those who indeed voted against them but failed to commit every ounce of energy to convince others likewise. So, pretty much each and every American voter is accountable for the condition of the nation!
Ironically, James 3.17a from today's reading states:
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure...
Let's see, what does purity mean...? Ah yes, it means, "without contamination." And this is the message of James chapter 3 as a whole (read it!)!
Father, please forgive me for not being more proactive as an American leader (voter). Forgive me for not campaigning with and for wisdom from above!
