Reflect

As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. [Titus 2.1]

Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. [Titus 2.7b]

Paul used the word "reflect" twice in today's NT reading. This word describes exactly what I have felt the Spirit is saying regarding our lives - that we can do nothing of ourselves, but merely allow ourselves to become what the Word makes us.

If our lives are "mirrors" then what others see in us is determined by what we are "facing". The real interesting thing about this is that as a mirror, I am all-important, and yet mean nothing. If I am properly positioned, my life will show God to people and likewise, people to God. My life is not to reflect God back to Himself, nor to reflect people back to themselves, but to simply reflect one (One) to the other (Other).

How do we become a mirror? Through God's Word. There simply is no other way. God makes us a mirror as we focus on the Word. God more brilliantly polishes us and more accurately positions us the more we are exposed to the Word.

My goal is that when God looks at me, He sees others - because my life is focused on them. Likewise, my goal includes that others would look at me and see God because my life is focused on Him. Somehow, this seems right - loving God - loving man.

Father, please make these thoughts revelation to me today.
